Humanism

What is Humanism?

Humanism is an approach to life that places ourselves as human beings, our communities, societies and our broader humanity, at the centre of our thinking, our conduct and our actions.

In living a Humanist life, we aim to both support our own well-being and happiness, and the well-being and happiness of all others. In line with our concern for the well-being of all we strive to reduce and as far as possible and reasonable, remove pain and suffering for ourselves and all others.

To support us in achieving our Humanist goals, we recognise the importance of our emotional selves, our feelings and our instincts, and we aim to use evidence, reason, rationality, truth and integrity to support and achieve well-being for ourselves and all others...

Importantly, Humanism is a non-religious approach to living. We reject beliefs in Gods, angels, virgin births, heavens and hells. We do not believe in sacred books and we reject supernatural explanations for the things we observe.

Humanists believe we have one life and we are living it now.
